Mmm, I'm eating Thermomix demo leftovers for lunch - mushroom risotto and coleslaw. Will eat some chocolate custard later, which Meagan made as an extra because Emma and Alastair got upset they didn't like the lemon custard that was actually part of the demo.

Trying to declutter and get ready for the garage sale on Sunday, but today is bloody hot and tomorrow will be too. Oh well, Sunday itself won't be too bad.

It's really difficult getting rid of stuff. I have a bad habit of attaching memories to objects. That and I keep thinking "this might fetch $x on eBay". Yes it might - IF I could be bothered photographing and listing it, posting it or organising pickup, dealing with bidders, etc etc. Better to get $5 for it and save the time and the cost of packing and moving it when we move!

02:50 pm - thoughts on what happened to the CPRS

Since reading a friend's frustrated tweet yesterday after the defeat of Labor's Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme legislation in the Australian Senate, I've been reflecting on what happened and how it happened )

My wee one,

This has been a year of travel for us. A year of distance and of closeness.

I will never forget the day I watched a train take you further from me than you had ever been before, and the discussions of distance, and the fact that we were no longer a small trip apart. Such a loving group was there to see you off, and you seem to win and keep good friends.

I love you for the bravery and the happiness you have shown this year, and the comfort and support you often surprised me by offering. I expected it to be the other way around, but as often as not, if was you comforting me.

I feel amazingly lucky that, in the upheaval of this year, we have got to spend so much time together, in such closeness.

I have seen you become a confident and happy girl, who when knocked down by waves at the beach, gets up again and faces her fear with joy and fun.

I have seen you budget your spending money, consider your choices, make and stick to your own decision, (despite the urging of others), and I am proud and happy.

I love the care, concern and consideration you show for those around you.

I love the way you charm all my friends, and complete strangers.

I love the way you've moved from letting me sing, to singing along with me, and the way you pick up a song so quickly these days.

Thank you for the love, hugs and cuddles; the games, the songs and the stories.
